CR 2484  Contributor's Pick!
By December of 1978 a good chunk of Conrail ALCO Centuries were on the deadline in Collinwood Yard, but an ex Erie Lackawanna C424 (she'd been their 2410) was still working as a driller. She was 15 at this time, having been delivered June 1963 as part of Erie-Lackawanna's first order of new engines (delivered in black and yellow). In 1964 William White took over the EL, dropping the hyphen (and reinstating the Phoebe Snow and making this paint scheme universal). Separately, the Eaton smoke stack belongs to the fluid power systems manufacturer.
