| Chione. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in September of 1956. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6432 and another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. Both are "J" Class (2-10-4) "Texas" steam locomotives built in Juniata. #6432 is a J-1A constructed in September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, they're about to pass under the State Route 53 Bridge with a mixed-cargo freight out of Altoona bound for Conway Yard. |
