Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1966. Partially visible here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2416, an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. It's pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight train, but is being passed by the train in the foreground. Note the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad highway trailer. (#5 of 39)
