Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1966. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2274 and an unidentified N-5 cabin car. #2274 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in May of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. In this context, they're rounding the Curve on their way to Cresson to pick up a mineral train and then pull it down the Allegheny Mountains to the Receiving Yards in Altoona. (#19 of 39) |
