Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2529, #2535, and #2207. #2529 and #2535 are both GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2529 was built in September of 1964, while #2535 was built in February of 1965. And #2207 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in March of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. In this context, they're rounding the Curve with a TrucTrain on their way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. (#3 of 39) |
