Long Train Comin' Editors Pick!
This BNSF double lash-up is struggling hard to meet the challenge of the rugged terrain of suburban New York City. In its relentless beeline across southeast New York State and northern New Jersey, the unforgiving CSX River Line makes no concessions to the undulating geography, cresting one rugged grade after the next, to heights ranging anywhere from 10' to almost 50' above sea level, often as far as a hundred feet from the nearest civilization, and all the while flanked by towering peaks that soar over 1,000' into the heavens. Forget about Sand Patch, Donner, and Tehachapi! Make no mistake, the River Line is no place for rookie throttle meisters! This is REAL railroading!
