PRR 9736, BF-16, 1958
Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, on 1 February 1958. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9736 and three more "Sharks" whose road numbers are not recorded. #9736 is a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-B-A set is powering a "high-&-wide" special.
