PRR 9835, EFP-15, 1957
Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Perdix, Pennsylvania, on 10 March 1957. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9835 and three "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9835 is an EFP-15 constructed in April of 1952. In this context, this A-B-B-A set is pulling a long string of Great Northern Railroad ore carriers to Altoona and points West.
