PRR 9551, EF-15A, 1957
Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken in Enola, Pennsylvania, on 20 October 1957. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9551 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9551 is an EH-15 constructed in December of 1948, rebuilt later as an EF-15A, and retired in September of 1965 after just 17 years of revenue service.
