Louisville & Nashville J-3 class 2-8-2 1548 was on a southbound train passing the Abaunza Steamship Agency wharf at the foot of Dumaine Street in New Orleans. The train had left its cars at GENTILLY YARD, on the east side of the city, and was heading for JULIA STREET YARD, where the crew would go off duty. The locomotive had been built by Alco's Richmond Works (63788) in 1922 and was retired on 23 April 1954. (approximate date of photo) |
