| Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Perdix, Pennsylvania, on 10 March 1957. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9515 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9515 is an EF-15 built in April of 1948 and retired in February of 1953 after just 15 years of revenue service. Note the westbound string of Great Northern Railroad ore carriers. |
