WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here (F to R) are PRR engine #2433 and two other units whose numbers are not recorded. #2433 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound merchandise freight train under the 17th Street Bridge in East Altoona, Pennsylvania. Visible on the left are some of the many rusting freight cars stored in the old Westbound Classification Yard. |
