Tom Beckett General These cars were originally built to handle Sea Land stacks-pretty obvious from the lettering. They carried NYSW initials with the same numbers that are on them now. At the time, in the mid 80's, CSX owned Sea Land, and participated in land bridge moves that ran from Seattle-Tacoma to Chicago on BN, then the B&O to Buffalo, via Butler PA and the old BR&P, then the D&H to Binghamton NY on CR trackage rights, then on NYSW, also via CR trackage rights, to Passaic Jct on the ex Erie Bergen County Line, then NYSW to Little Ferry NJ, where Sea Land had their east coast facility. After the NYSW opened the line to Sparta Jct and a connection to the former L&HR, the stacks took that route. The move from the ex Erie to the ex LHR is itself a story. 5/30/2016 1:44:00 AM
