CN 5542, BCOL 4651, CN 8821, and CN 2007
CN ore train crosses the Menasha Channel of the Fox River via former joint MILW/ SOO bridge and approaches the junction with the former C&NW mainline as it crawls through Menasha, WI pulling 215 ore cars on 5 May '14. It pulled up as far as the swing bridge over the Fox River Navigation Canal, halted, then reversed to back into the former SOO yard at Neenah. Train had four locomotives, CN 5542, BCOL 4651, CN 8821, and CN 2007. I am left to wonder if there has ever been this much horsepower on this line.

Roberto Alaniz General Nice photo. 5/9/2014 2:43:07 PM
Dave Howarth Jr. General The most horsepower I recall was a couple years back with a BCOL 46**, IC SD40-3, CN SD40-2W, & a CN GP40-2LW on a return job back to Neenah from Manitowoc after the BCOL & IC hauled coke loads to Manitowoc earlier that day. 5/11/2014 6:15:13 AM
Richard Hopfensperger General Very nice. This might explain why I have seen taconite pellets in this area! 5/11/2014 7:38:37 PM
T. P. Bruss General Thank you all for the comments. This was one of those rare “Holy crap I can’t believe what I am seeing” days, and I chanced upon it completely by accident. For Dave Howarth Jr., I have seen other people’s photos of consists like you described from a few years ago when this line seemed to have heavier use than it has lately. For Richard Hopfensperger, I have also seen a notably pronounced trail of taconite pellets along this line recently. 5/12/2014 4:19:03 AM
