DLW freight house
The Lackawanna freight house on Henry St in Binghamton. As you can see from the billboard, a new baseball stadium was set to be built there, once the old structure was torn down. That was easier said than done. Like many DLW buildings, this one was built for the ages. After several "modern" demolition procedures were tried, a few WW2 vets with demoltion experience were located. They were able to get the building torn down, and a new stadium hosting the Binghamton Mets opened in 1992. The first base side has a great view of the yard and Southern Tier main line.
