BN GP7 1588 southbound at North Aurora, Illinois on May 19, 1982, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. In the CB&Q days, this train was known as the 'Irish Mail' for reasons I do not know. It was the daily job between Eola and West Chicago using the original 1848 charter for ten miles of track for the CB&Q between those two towns. They pretty much had only one customer, General Mills in West Chicago, which must have pissed off the C&NW since it was their town. |
