Eastbound NS train 111 is a daily freight on the road's St Louis sub; but it's going to take longer than normal today. Flooding and closure of the much busier Hannibal line has forced a lot of that route's traffic onto the St Louis Sub to get to Moberly and Kansas City. On a "normal" day 111 might meet one or two westbounds in the two usual sidings between Moberly and the big yard at Wentzville. Today, roughly 40 miles from Moberly, it will go in the 8690 foot siding at Benton City to meet three, and then make it only about 30 miles further, to High Hill, for another pair and then it will see two more at Wentzville, which is still 46 miles from 'home' in St Louis. |
