IC 9568
Title:  IC 9568
Description:  A CN local clears Washington St. as it heads northwest via former C&NW rails on Doty Island at Menasha, WI on 4 Jul. '19. Train had just finished servicing Chemtrade (formerly General Chemical Corp.), 388 Ahnaip St. The awesome, old building at right is currently home to Expert Driveline Truck & Auto Repair, 216 Washington St. Built in '35 for Verbrick's Service Co., Norbert F. Verbrick, proprietor; it operated as such until '84. Designed by Henry Auler in the Tudor Revival style, it and the adjacent building at 214 Washington St. (originally offices of Northwest Electrolyte and Engraving, also designed by Auler in the Tudor Revival style) were erected on what had long been a stave yard for the Menasha Wooden Ware Co. Wayne's Towing and Service occupied the near building for quite a while between the original and current occupants. I haven't found any information about the facility at left.

IC 9568, CN 4711, CN 4705
Title:  IC 9568, CN 4711, CN 4705
Description:  A pair of CN locals face-off on the yard lead at the north end of the former SOO yard along Union St. at the former Adams St. grade crossing at Neenah, WI on 4 Jul. '19. Near local was waiting to return to the yard from Menasha and had one locomotive, IC 9568. Far local, throwing a little smoke, was preparing to cross over to the passing siding and head toward Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna, and had two locomotives, CN 4711 and CN 4705. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current yard (a few blocks to the south) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard here. Adams St. was originally Washington St., until at least 1913. I'm curious to learn what Washington did to piss off the "great" City of Neenah.
