Not much difference |
Description: |
At this point in Conrails history, there was still a lot of equipment in predecessor paint schemes, and it was not uncommon to see solid sets of un repainted power, though most non PC units had at least been renumbered if not patch painted. Since the PC people largely ran the show, their numbering plan held sway. As such, most PC power did not need to be renumbered, so you were more likely to see untouched PC power than anything else. An example is here at Poughkeepsie, where we have not only this U25B, but a transfer caboose still in PC garb. There's also something in NYC lettering in the yard, though I can't see enough of it to identify. All this is in the shadow of the former New Haven Poughkeepsie Bridge, out of service since a fire in May 1974, and now a pedestrian walkway over the river. |
