Stroebe is a railroad station in Fox Crossing, WI (formerly Town of Menasha, Winnebago Co., WI until 14 Apr. '16). The former SOO rails run parallel to the right. Hwy. 41, partially visible to the right, was not visible from here until a substantial growth of trees and brush between the two rails lines was removed in the summer or fall of 2018. The local was headed for Appleton, Little Chute and Kaukauna. |

CNJ 4-8-0C #469 - Central RR of New Jersey |
| Description: |
As camelback locomotives go, this was a brute but was well suited to the hilly CNJ landscape while hauling coal. Built by Brooks (Alco) in 1900, it was well suited to burn the anthracite fuel in its wide Wooten firebox (123" long by 97" wide) which needed two firemen to stoke its hungry mouth. CNJ renumbered their class so this was actually built at #454. More than half retired before WWII with the last of the class scrapped in 1948 (#465). Specs - K-1 class, 55" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x32" cylinders, engine weight of 201,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,619 lb. Rebuilt and superheated by the CNJ shops at Elizabethport in March 1917 to class K1s and rebuilt to class K1as at Ashley in November 1924. The photo is from the Bob Lorenz collection and the date is approximate. |

Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4810, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric in July of 1935, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and retired in July of 1969 after 34 years of faithful service. The road numbers of the other four locomotives pictured are not recorded. |
