Description:  Built in 1929 by Pullman Standard as a 48-seat smoker trailer #213, Standard Steel Car Co rebuilt with a motor in 1938 and renumbered to #40. Retired around 1980 and now beautifully restored and operational at the Illinois Rwy Museum in Union, IL. Unknown photographer.

Number 5 was built by Pullman Car and Manufacturing Company in 1926, part of the first order of ten new cars by the Insull administration to modernize the Chicago Lake Shore & South Bend, which entered recievership February 28, 1925 and was purchased by Samuel Insull's newly formed Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad on July 29, 1925 for $6,474,843.00 at auction, the only bid received.

Description:  This is a rebuilt interurban car done by Pullman-Standard in 1951 from CSSSB coach #29 (originally a 64 seat coach-baggage car). It went to Fox River Trolley Museum in 1988 and sadly, it was later scrapped. Technicatlly this is a Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District car, not the CSSSB since it's after the 1977 re-organization.
