Album Info:Pan Am and VTR typically interchange freight cars five days a week at either Hoosick Junction or North Bennington. Where the interchange actually takes place is dictated by the length of the interchange track at Hoosick Junction which is relatively short, and can handle maybe 10-12 cars. If there are more than that to interchange the two railroads set up a meet of two trains in North Bennington at about noon to 1:00 p.m. . I had the good fortune to see three different trains either picking up cars, handing over cars, or both on Tuesday, July 2nd. This is a piece of track I've long wanted to photograph (the 8 or so miles between North Bennington and Hoosac Junction, and Tuesday was finally my day to see some action on this very scenic section.

I had set up to catch EDRJ at Eagle Bridge, but the first train to come through was RJ-1, headed toward North Bennington, so I decided to chase this one instead.

Pan Am Railway's EDRJ westbound along route 346 between Pownal, VT and North Petersburgh, NY
Title:  Pan Am Railway's EDRJ westbound along route 346 between Pownal, VT and North Petersburgh, NY
Description:  EDRJ has orders to pick up some cars from Vermont Railways when it reaches Hoosick Junction - about 8 miles ahead of where this shot was taken. You can see the cliff face which helps to make Pownal curve so scenic in the distance - above the roadway.
