BRC 180
Description:
Belt Railway of Chicago observation 180 at Bedford Park in Chicago, Illinois on June 13, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 180 is my best guess. There was a number painted in yellow at the other end above the BRC logo, I could barely read it, it looked like 180. This car was a 3 Compartment, 2 Drawing Room - Lounge Observation named CENTRAL PLATEAU, built by Pullman, completed on September 23, 1926, Lot 4971, Plan 3959 ( reconfigured to Plan 3959E on April 21, 1931 ), ice air conditioning added May 6, 1936, sold to the BRC July 29, 1954. The BRC seemed to get along OK (seen here on the C&NW), but the CTA was nearly paralyzed, and downgraded 4000 series work cars were pressed into plow service.
