Here is the front cover that was published originally on the July-August 1987 issue of "Locomotive & Railway Preservation" magazine. Partial Photo Caption: "GG1 No. 4877 runs for the last time in commercial service near Matawan, New Jersey, October 23, 1983." Photo by Don Wood. PRR engine #4877 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during January of 1939, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and presently on display at the United Railway Historical Society in Boonton, New Jersey.

"In Recognition," Page 12, 1987
Description:
Here is a one-page essay by Mark Smith entitled "In Recognition." It was published originally in the July-August 1987 issue of "Locomotive & Railway Preservation" magazine, page 12. Photo Caption: "East Altoona Engine House, 1955. The house switcher shepherds I1sa No. 406 onto the turntable. In two years, history will happen here when I1sa No. 4271 drops its fire ~ the last PRR steam locomotive to do so." Photo by Don Wood. PRR engine #406 is an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in Juniata as an I-1S during October of 1918, rebuilt as an I-1SA in August of 1941, and retired in May of 1956 after 38 years of faithful service.
