Here is a six-page article by Mr. Freeman Hubbard entitled "The World's Fastest Steam Locomotive." It was published originally in the August 1957 issue of "Railroad" magazine, pages 30-35. "Like a runaway comet, No. 7002 wheeled the 'Pennsylvania Special' for three exciting miles at 127.1 miles an hour, away back in June, 1905, and no regularly scheduled train has ever equaled that record!" (Page 30)

Here is page one of a six-page article by Freeman Hubbard entitled "The World's Fastest Steam Locomotive." It was published originally in the August 1957 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 30. Shown here is a partial view of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7002, an E-7SA (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata as E-2A number "8063" during September of 1902, rebuilt as an E-7SA in October of 1918, withdrawn from service in August of 1939, renumbered "7002" in June of 1949, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.
