The trip ended for me (and many others) at St. Paul, VA. Charter bus took us to Bluefield, WV, where we caught Amtrak's Hilltopper back to Williamson or Catlettsburg. |
Description: |
The delay at Elkhorn City adding diesel helpers set us back about two hours, as I recall. Fortunately, several Amtrak higher-ups were riding the steam train and the Hilltopper was instructed to wait at Bluefield for the charter bus to arrive. Many coal-dusted faces were on the Amtrak going home. Needless to say, the shower was a relief! |
